As I’m beginning full time music ministry, I’ve learned of the incredible gift it is to minister as God’s hands and feet in music ministry. Through ten years of learning ministry at church, many church music mentors showed me the radical gentleness, but wisdom you need to minister in this role. It was a great gift to learn from such great musicians and ministers with faith, but I started learning the most when I stepped into full time ministry in 2022. This Mass setting was written starting in January 2020 through January 2024, which has been a great time of transition and learning for me into full time ministry as a church Music Director. It was a compositional joy to write this as well an intensely spiritual journey closer to the heart of ministry and how music ministry fits into the Mass. I pray that your parish enjoys this setting, but also opens you up even more to the gentle heart needed to minister to God’s people with our beautiful ministry. - Dale Gray
