I wrote this in 2023 as the church was preparing for the National Eucharistic Revival that year. To bring together such a mystery into a song like this is a challenge because it can feel so complex and emotionally overwhelming. Really holding onto my trust that Jesus is physically here to give us strength every week helped me focus the purpose of the song on contemplating truly "How Close You Are". It's a song that calls worshippers to draw near and feel the closeness to the divine mystery within the communion experience. I know I grew deeper in my understanding and love of the Eucharist as I wrote this and I hope it touches you similarly.
